Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LAURENCE Gold seems to complain in his letter (CM June 16) that selling M.A.N.-VW trucks threatens British jobs and that this dreadful conspiracy was aided and abetted by CM's supplement on M.A.N.-VW.

Did Mr Gold not read page 12 of the supplement? There it clearly explained that M.A.N. and its parent group GHH buy seven times as much value from British companies as is earned in selling M.A.N. trucks in Britain.

With the trade balance so clearly in favour of British companies perhaps Mr Gold should consider the number of jobs in the British components industry which are sustained by M.A.N-VW.
