FULL details of the coming merger of the Freight Transport Association and the British Shippers Council (CM last week) will be announced later this year.
An FTA spokesman told CM this last week, and added that the associations had still to decide how to conduct their affairs after the merger on January 1.
He said that the BSC name would be retained for matters dealing with air and sea transport.
He added: "The exper tise and relations forged by the British Shippers Council in the past will be retained and strengthened in the future."
He described the merger as "a happy solution" to financial problems which are known to have dogged BSC recently.
