The Greater London Council was to discuss the proposals this week, following a report from its consulting engineers recommending a 16-ton net weight limit.
Around 4,000 vehicles will be diverted into other sensitive routes in Central London, says the FTA, which believes instead that a gross weight limit should be imposed. The GLC has rejected a gross weight limit because it would be difficult to enforce.
