General Electric Co., Ltd., which developed the process in its research laboratories, now include examples of joints which are difficult to achieve by any of the usual welding methods.
• By means of the process, joints can be made in expanded aluminium. Different thicknesses of material can be welded together, and dissimilar metals such as aluminium and copper can be joined. with thicknesses up to a ratio of 20 to I. Another new application includes welding two pieces of solid metal separated by wire gauze.
