Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Another Good Example of the Converted Private House THERE is no doubt that a private house of large and commodious type lends itself well to conversion into a coach station, provided that the surrounding grounds are adequate. Frequently we have emphasized that it is not necessary for the coaches to park under cover, so long as passengers are sheltered while boarding and leaving them.

Black and White Motorways, Ltd., of Cheltenham, has now commenced operation from its new station in St. Margaret's Road, Cheltenham. The building, in this case an old Georgian house, within 200 yds. of the town, has grounds extending to 3i acres. A part of this large area has already been paved with concrete and later it is expected to cover a portion of it with a glass roof. There are two large entrances into St. Margaret's Road, and a third in North Place. The fact that coaches may be sent out in three different directions will do much to prevent congestion at the station and in the town.

Some reconstruction work has been necessary in the conversion of the building, the ground floor of which ac adjacent kitchen has a lift to the buffet below. The second floor has been adapted to accommodate the office staff of the company. A rest room for drivers has been erected close to the main building.

The exterior of the building has been painted white and the interior decoration embodies the black-and-white-colour scheme throughout. Telephone and letterboxes are to be installed and central heating will be available in cold weather. A portion of the grounds is to be used as a park for cars and motor coaches, the charges being 6d. and 1s. respectively for the day.

The founders of Black mid White Motorways, Ltd., commenced in the

road-travel business in 1926, an early venture being the running of one coach a day to and from London. Nowadays, very often more than SO coaches are employed daily on this route, and the fleet numbers over 50 vehicles, is eluding Leylands, Gilfords, etc. The staff, including drivers, now numbers over 200 persons.
