AMONG the new exhibits at the Brussels Commercial Vehicle Show next week will be Commercial Motor. For the first time CM will be represented at a Continental Show as part of the Euro Truck Press group, which has a stand at Brussels.

The Show is the first exhibition of the New Year and this year it is for commercial vehicles only.

In previous years it has been a combined commercial and car show. British manufacturers will be well represented with Seddon Atkinson, for example, showing a drawbar version of the 400 Series powered by a Cummins 250.

Cummins power is also used for the 400 tractive unit to be shown in sleeper-cab form, but this is the more powerful 335 engine. Although there will be a Foden exhibit it is rather out of the ordinary in the shape of a 6x6 gun tractor for military use.

This medium mobility machine has a turbocharged Rolls-Royce 305 engine, Kirkstall axles and a nine-speed Foden gearbox. Strictly speaking there will be two Foden models at the Show. The other is a 5hp traction engine built in 1906, which will be on display in the entrance to the exhibition.

Ford claims market leadership in Belgium for the first time in 1976, and to back this up Ford of Belgium will be showing 27 vehicles.

As well as the familiar Escort, Transit, A, D, and H series models Ford will also have on display an American-built Louiseville truck in 6x4 tipper form.

Brussels will see the introduction of a new model from a Swedish manufacturer. See next week's CM for details.

The Show opens on Wednesday January 12 and closes on Sunday 23 at the Exhibition Centre, Boulevard de la Woluwe.
