Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

service in HM Forces I am now seeking employment as a foreman fitter. When being interviewed for various positions I find myself unable to answer detailed questions on the Ministry of Transport Plating and Testing Scheme, and also on technical points such as the braking efficiences applicable to various types of vehicle. Can you advise me of any publications which might be of assistance?

AWe know of two Ministry publications

This pamphlet gives a concise account of the plating and testing regulations and their implementation. The Goods Vehicle Tester's Manual gives explanatory notes on official methods of vehicle inspection and is available from HMSO, priced fis 6d.

Commercial Motor on July 12 1968 featured an article entitled "This way to the test". This guide to goods vehicle testing and plating is available in reprint form from Iliffe-NTP International Ltd., 161 Fleet Street, EC4, priced 2s.
