Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

24, relating to the marking of overhanging loads. However. I am sure that when carrying a load exceeding 6ft but not exceeding 10ft that only an end marker board is required. Can you comment?

AYou are indeed correct. The Motor

Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 1968 (Si 1968 No 426) which we intact mentioned in connection with the carriage of long loads on artics not exceeding 15 metres in overall length, also provides that the Construction and Use Regulations 1966, 8th Schedule paragraph 3, sub paragraph b, so far as it relates to side projection surfaces shall not apply by reason only that a vehicle has a special appliance or apparatus. or is carrying a load, which has a rearward projection exceeding 6ft in length but not exceeding 10ft in length. In short with rearward projections exceeding 6ft, but not exceeding 10ft in length only an end marker board is now required, but such an end marker board must be of the specified dimensions.

It should be explained here that there has been no change regarding marker boards on rearward projections exceeding 10ft in length.

In the case of projections exceeding 10ft but not exceeding 17ft, three surfaces shall be exhibited: one of which must be an end marker board, and of which two must be side marker boards. The side marker boards must be fixed so that the horizontal distances to the end projection surface do not exceed 3ft.

In the case of rearward projections exceeding 17ft in length additional side marker boards must be used, so that the horizontal distance, between the tailboard of the vehicle and the first marker board does not exceed 12ft.

Also with rearward projections exceeding 10ft in length, police notification requirements must be satisfied and a mate must be provided.
