Duple Motor Bodies will, says the company, be substantially increased during 1969 when all manufacturing activities at the Hendon, North London, works will be transferred to Lancashire. Spare parts, service and repair departments will be modernized and maintained at Hendon, which will also house the Group sales company and administrative offices. These, together with design and development departments, will cover 50,000 sq. ft.
Mr. J. R. Chisnall, managing director of
Duple Motor Bodies (Northern) Ltd., the Group's Blackpool-based subsidiary company. said that over 50,000 sq. ft. of production area were being added to the Blackpool factory in Vicarage Lane. Already a large mezzanine floor of 22.000 sq. ft. had been constructed to house ancillary trades such as seat assembly and electrical stores, and a 30.000 sq. ft. extension to the body finishing shop had also been started.
The name of the Blackpool subsidiary of the Duple Group will be changed to Duple Coachbuilders Ltd.
