WAYS ot minimising congestion and delays, when work on the widening of the M63 between Eccles and Stretford starts early next year, were discussed at a meeting between Department of Transport officials, Greater Manchester County Council and major local companies.
The widening works b tween Junctions One ii d Seven will be carried out over the next iew years but the bridge section over the Manchester Ship Canal near Barton — one of the busiest stretches of motorway in the country — will pose the worst problems.
Disruptions and delays will be inevitable, says the Dip.
A major public relations campaign is proposed to highlight alternative routes.
