A. TOTAL of £307m. was spent on ri Great Britain's roads in 1962. In the years 1953-63 the number of licensed vehicles more than doubled, rising from 5,285,000 to 11,384,000. There were 198,454 miles of roads at April 1, 1963. The average mileage for a bus last year was 30,500.
