TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED operator Innovate Logistics says it is on the verge of buying Nottinghamshire reefer operator Phil Hanley.

Innovate Logistics is set on becoming the leading reefer operator recently director Stephen Savage told CM:"We want to be UK market leader of refrigeration logistics. We cannot be swayed from that" The purchase of Phil Hanley, in nearby Bilsthorpe, would certainly go some way to achieve this. The Transfrigoroute member was founded in 1982 and has the capacity to hold 53,000 pallets of frozen products at its coldstores in Grantham and Newark, with another 3,500 pallets of chilled space in Newark.

Accounts at Companies House show its 2003 turnover was £17,7m, down slightly from £18.3m the year before. However, in the same year it made a loss of £690,000, compared with a profit of £622,000 the year before.

Phil Hanley MD Stuart Hancock declined to comment.
