The 2.5-litre, five-cylinder petrol unit was previously fitted only to the Caravelle personnelcarrier but now, following spe
cial orders from police and emergency services, it is available on the short-wheelbase 1,000kg (2.5-tonne GVW) and long-wheelbase 1,200kg (2.8tonne GVW) panel vans.
The new models cost £13,035 and £13,815 (ex-VAT). A fourspeed automatic gearbox is an option at £1,250 (ex-VAT); a manual-transmission Syncro 4x4 variant adds £2,440.
Transporters now have power steering, 15-in wheels and height-adjustable seat belts as standard: all tailgates have heated rear glass and wash/wipe. Petrol models are fitted with catalytic converters and charcoal filters.
