AILSA Bus will definitely continue to contend in the double deck bus market, said general manager Sandy Glennie, when a Stockholm Transport Volvo B58-based artic bus was presented here.

He reiterated the sales points of the Mark II Ailsa and announced that from now on Ailsa is going to market the double-decker "agressively". Negotiations are at present taking place to find bodybuilders for additional chassis to complement Alexanders.

Mr Glennie emphasised Ailsa's spare parts and service exchange facilities, which he said would include all major components, including transmissions, for the bus.

Sales of Volvo's B58 were also discussed and he reported that a record 107 had been sold in the UK in 1977. He announced that this year Ailsa plans to increase sales to 140. The chassis are being bodied by Plaxtons, Caetano and Jonchlerre.

Discussions are also taking place with all UK bodybuilders to increase body space.
