New chairman for LT

Ralph Bennett took over from Kenneth Robinson as chairman of the London Transport Executive on April 1. Mr Bennett became a member of the Executive in 1968. deputy chairman in 1971 and chief executive in 1975. His career began in Plymouth and before joining London Transport he was general manager at Great Yarmouth, Bolton and Manchester. Mr Robinson will remain with the Executive until the end of this year.

Two new directors have been appointed by the Halliday Transport Organization. Fred Mitchell has joined the firm from British Leyland's Triumph plant at Coventry as company secretary, and Alan Howling has become a director of R. C. Halliday (FabricatiOns) Ltd, where he has been production manager for two years.

Roger Cullitnore, managing director of Moreton C. Cullimore & Son Ltd, Stroud, has been elected Western Area chairman of the Road Haulage Association. Elected viceChairmen were B. Fish, of J. Fish & Sons Ltd, Avonmouth, and M. J. Timms, of Western Transport Ltd, Avonmouth. Harold Russett, retiring chairman, and C. Telling were e-elected as Western Area delegates to the RHA's Natio nal Council, with Mr Cullimore as their deputy.

T. W. Reeves has been appointed by LT as works manager, Aldenham. Since 1970 he has been chief Inspector (road and rail).
