Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN addition to a variety of trailers for loads of 0 cwt., 8 cwt., 12 cwt. and 18 cwt., intended primarily for private use, Mr. B. Dixon-Bate, of Tarvin Road, Chester, has standardized several types of body which are designed chiefly for commercial use. All of' these are equipped with automatically operated servo brakes which comply not only with the requirements of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations, 1931, but also permit the vehicle to he reversed when necessary.

This result is achieved in spite of the fact that the brakes are operated by the overrun of the trailer, by making them of the external-contracting band type arranged to have a self-wrapping effect. When the trailer is reversed this becomes an unwrapping effect and the braking action is almost completely .cancelled.

Amongst the special bodies available is one which can be obtained in 12-cwt. or 18-cwt. sizes and is intended for the use of the painting and building trades. This is a more or less conventional truck -with the addition of suitable supports for carrying ladders or long boards.

For cattle removal there is an 18-cwt. model with an open slatted body 4 ft. 9 ins. deep by 3 ft. 8 ins. wide by 8 ft: long. The back end hinges down and, being provided with cross bars, forms a ramp.
