Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The company want to add 4d. to single fares over 24d. covering town and city services, together with increased return fares on inter-urban and country services. On express services they propose single and returnfare increases of 3d. for every 5s, or part of 5s.

Increases of between 6s. 6d. and 19s. 6d. a quarter are planned for some period contract tickets, with a 50-perpent. advance for children under 14. Children's single fares for stages under 6d. will, however, be unchanged.

Wilts and Dorset Motor Services, Ltd., are to seek a general revision based on mileage, but they do not intend to increase any fare by more than 1 d. in the shilling.

Sunderland Transport Committee will apply for reduced fare stages, without losing the present 14d. minimum, to bring in an extra £62,000 a year. The price of a "universal" ticket will go up from 8d. to 9d., and the maximum fare will be increased from 51d. to 6d.

Portsmouth Area Joint Transport Committee will ask for the addition of Id. to fares between 21d. and 5d. They also want to add Id. to the present 6d. fare for a four-mile stage, with a similar increase on all fares of 7d. and over within the city boundary.

Southend Proposals Increases on single fares to be sought by Southend Corporation go up to a maximum of 2d. Return fares will be calculated at 1 5/6 the ordinary single fare, with a maximum increase of 4d.

Colchester Corporation have worked out a new mileage scale to put before the Commissioners. Journeys up to a mile would cost 2d., with Id. for the next half-mile. The scale would go up by Id. stages to a maximum of 8d.

Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., want to.raise fares between 41d. and 74d. by Id., with further increases of up to 4d. on fares between 8d_ and 3s. 7d.
