Dr Norman Jones is taking over control of the bulk liquid tankers of A. S. Jones and Co Ltd, Bromborough, from his father, Ron Jones, who has retired to a smallholding in North Wales. Mr Jones joined the family business in 1929, became a director in 1940 when the company merged with Coast Lines Road Transport, and on the merger in 1954 with P & 0 was promoted to technical director as a board member of P & 0 Road Services Ltd. From ICI Dr Jones in 1966 moved to A. S. Jones and Co as personal assistant to the general manager, becoming assistant gm two years later.

Geoff Hallam, managing director of Humber McVeigh Transport, has been made JP. His appointment is to the Grimsby Bench of Magistrates.

Geoffrey Wright, 45, has been appointed the new traffic manager of National Carriers Ltd, taking responsibility for the operation of all NCL's freight depots and road vehicles, Mr Wright has been manager of NCL"ssouthern area since 1971: he succeeds Alan Richards, now assistant managing director of the company. Douglas Moore, 43, becomes manager of the Scottish area. He succeeds David Russell, who moves to midland area manager. Mr Moore has been principal marketing manager at NCL since 1969; before that he was Scottish area traffic manager.

Frank Holloway, 47, is to succeed Lionel Pugh as managing director, supplies and transport division, at the British Steel Corporation's head office in London on January 1 1973. Mr Holloway is at present director, finance and administration, of the general steels division. Mr Pugh was appointed a full-time Member of the Corporation in August.

A. R. Davies, senior assistant (development), Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive, has been appointed traffic superintendent of Southport Corporation Transport in succession to D. L. Turner who moves to the City of Cardiff Transport as deputy general manager and traffic superintendent. Peter Norman, a director of Ralph Hilton Transport Services Ltd, has joined, as managing director, Air Wingate Ltd, of Ascot, Berks, a subsidiary of Howard Tenens Transport Ltd. The appointment has been made with the agreement of the FITS board in order to help progress negotiations for the future joint expansion of the two group's existing international transport activities. Mr Norman will remain or the board of HIS. W. W. Board has relinquished, at his own request, his post of managing director of Air Wingate.

John Stark, 31, has been appointed secretary of the Scottish Bus Group Ltd. He succeeds I. S. Irwin who recently became a director of the Group. Mr Stark has been Scottish Bus Group accountant since 1969.

A. W. Haynes, G. 0. Cox, F. Blythe, L C. Calver and C. B. Cumming were last week appointed executive directors of Federated Road Transport Services Ltd, Market Harborough

John B. Wood and Rudolph Visser, following a reorganization within Winn International Containers Ltd, of Barking, Essex, have respectively taken responsibility for sales and operations in the UK and Europe.
