COTTON-CARRYING COMETS: Lancashire Cotton Corporation has ordered four Leyland Comet CS3.I3R models, powered by 110 b.h.p. Power-Plus diesel engines.
MORE TO IRELAND: Joseph Fisher and Sons, Ltd., of Newry. Co. Down, have ordered two Albion Super Reiver trucks, a Super Reiver tipper and a Leyland PowerPlus Octopus tipper from J. A. Potter (Belfast), Ltd. They will all be fitted with powered steering.
REAR ENTRANCE WULFRUNIANS FOR ACCRINGTON: Accrington Corporation have taken delivery of two Guy Wulfrunian double-deckers with East Lancashire 66-seat bodywork. They are the first examples of this model to hare a rear-entrance layout and incorporate a fully fronted cab.
SOUTH AMERICAN ORDER: The first of 10 Thames Trader chassis with third axle conversions by County Commercial Cars (Sales), Ltd., is due to be delivered to the municipality of Lima, Peru. Five will be 6 x 2 trailing axle chassis, and five 6 x 4 double-drive chassis. The 6 x 2s will have 2,000-gal, capacity bodies for water spraying. These bodies are being made by Always Welding, Ltd., and shipped in C.K.D. form. The 6 x 4s will be fitted with 10.5-cu.-yd. Anthony Hoist tipping bodies and used for the collection and disposal of refuse.
WATER-CARRIERS FOR KUWAIT: Six A.E.C. Mammoth Major bonneted six-wheelers are being shipped to Kuwait. Five are tractive units to operate with tanker semi-trailers carrying drinking water. The remaining vehicle has an all-steel truck body and is fitted with a Darlington 70 winch enabling it to be used as a recovery vehicle. All the vehicles have 11.3-litre A.E.C. engines, five-speed main gearboxes, auxiliary gearboxes with power take-off and powerassisted steering.
