Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALL types of trailer chassis and body are made by Carrimore Six Wheelers, Ltd., Great North Road, London, N.12, but the company is developing its market for pressed-steel frames for this class of vehicle, and expects to specialize to some extent on this form of construction in 3932. In these trailers the use of riveted gusset plates to give rigidity is eliminated by splaying out the ends of cross-members to provide the necessary' angular strength. Not only does this give a more rigid and lighter form of construction, but the number of rivets used in the frame is reduced.

With this type of frame weight can be saved by the use of deep rear-spring brackets. These are securely riveted to the side members, and the forward ones are connected by a transverse tube. The result is that the scroll bars are eliminated. With these trailers the springs are no less than 3 ins. wide (for the 4-5ton model), and each has a band around the centre, fitting into a recess in the spring chair ; there is no centre bolt. In the turntable a Timken tapered-roller thrust bearing is interposed between the bolster blocks.

A 4-5-ton trailer chassis with this kind of frame, mounted on 34-in. by 7-in. tyres, having 16-in, rear-wheel brake drums and incorporating the latest Carrimore improvements, will occupy a pro

minent position on the company's stand this year at the Olympia Show.

There will also be exhibited a 6-ton trailer incorporating an electrically welded frame made at the Finchley works, this being equipped with 36-in. by 8-in. tyres and a drop-sided body.

A 4-tonner having a big box-van body and representing a 12th repeat order from Bouts Brothers, Ltd., London, will also be displayed. The riveted frame for this body is one of the full-width type.

Two examples of the Quick& detach

able semi-trailer will be shown, one being mounted on a Bedford 2-ton short-wheelbase chassis and having an 18-ft. dropsided body for 5-ton loads, whilst the other will be a 20-ft. semi-trailer with fiat platform body for loads of 3-4-tons, suitable for the Ford 30-cwt. chassis.

The company continues to market the Carrimore-Lynx articulated vehicle for loads of about 10 tons, and an example will be seen at Olympia. The motiveunit wheelbase is now 10 ft. instead of 9 ft., and a Still-tube radiator is fitted.
