Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NOT very long ago a designer would have been considered as entering the realms of fantasy If he had suggested the development of chassis for town or local suburban use only, and that such vehicles would immediately command an unqualified success would have been considered almost out of the question ; but it is usually the unexpected that happens. The abnormal often meets requirements which are actually present, even if not fully recognized at the time, and a new type of vehicle will often create a useful demand and rapidly find an important place In the general scheme of transport. One such vehicle of the type of which we are writing has already achieved remarkable success, and there is no doubt that others will soon follow in its tracks. What is required is a i;ehicle which, for its size and weight, will carry a large and bulky load, be capable of rapid acceleration (although a high maximum of speed is not essential), and be easily controlled and manceuvred. In addition, it is an advantage for it to have a low-loading platform, so that terminal delays while loading and unloading can be reduced to the minimum. Finally, It should be easy to maintain and repair, whilst its cost should not make too heavy a drain upon capital.
