Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

lveco's northern Used Truck Centre at Middlewich has been joined by two more in the Midlands and the South; we find out what's on offer.

With sites in Thurrock and Birmingham joining the original UTC at Middlewich, Cheshire, Iveco has now established three Used Truck Centres, intended to cover the country.

The Iveco Plus programme handles vehicles across Europe, from the Daily van through to the EuroStar tractor. All vehicles returning from contracts go through a Freight Transport Association 80-point check before the first operators gets their buy-back payments in full.

The Middlewich site only handles vehicles coming back through its buy-back scheme. so Simon Cottrell and Jim Warburton from the used vehicle business unit are handling vehicles sold into a marketplace three years ago and a lot can happen in three years. As VED rates have fallen, so the demand for 4x2 tractors seems to exceed supply. Jim Warburton says there's also plenty of interest in 18-tonners and multi-axle rigid& There are generally 70 to 100 vehicles on the 1.5-acre site, about 70% of which are 7.5tonners.The Cargo's huge success in the fleet and rental sectors means they are generally standard spec, but buyers are lining up for them, nevertheless.

Warburton ran his own general haulage company (J Warburton & Sons) for 15 years out of Warrington and Liverpool with Iveco tractors as the mainstay of his fleet. He left the haulage business in 2000 for an Iveco dealership before joining the used vehicle set-up 18 months ago.

It was run and maintained by Northgate for the first two years of its life and is priced at £14.450 (ex-VAT).

There's a 430hp engine and 12-speed semiEurotronic auto box under this 6x2 twin-steer EuroStar (above). It clocked up 318.000km during three years withTJ StanunersTransport of Lowestoft.Spec includes a sliding fifth wheel and an extra fuel tank. Plated at 41 tonnes, it only lacks the paperwork to run at 44 tonnes. The interior is clean with a lived-in and worked look; exactly what it was designed for. lveco is asking L23,000 (ex-VAT) for it.•
