MR. A. E. GREENLAND has resigned from the board of Clifford Motor Components, Ltd.
MR. S. PErrtcaN, superintendent of the Hastings depot of Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd., has retired. He has• spent with the company 30 of his 55 years in the industry.
MR. E. F. CHOPPEN has resigned from the board of Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd., following his appointment as deputy co-ordinator of the world-wide marketing operations. of Standard Oil Co. (New Jersey). He leaves for New York shortly.
MR. D. M. TAILBY has joined the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Ltd. He will take over the duties of MR. D. E. GOUGH, overseas secretary and manager of the British manufacturers' section, when he retires on June-30.
MR. M. G.• BURROWS, chief mechanical and electrical engineer of the North Eastern Region of British Railways, will now control motor engineering in the region. MR. J. DON has been appointed road motor engineer in the mechanical and electrical engtheering department.
MR. BRYAN SAMAIN has been appointed manager of the public relations staff of the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., to take over duties of MR. M. J. BucicraasrP.a, who has left the company. Mr. Samain was previously public relations officer of Richard Thomas and Baldwins, Ltd.
MR. R. K. COPE, deputy traffic manager of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd.,has been appointed chairman of the management committee of Associated Motorways. He succeeds MR. E. PHILLIPS, of Red and White Services, Ltd., who retired in March.
MR. W. W. PAUL, sales promotion manager of the motor section of Brown Brothers, Ltd., has been appointed assistant general manager of the same section. His former position has been taken by MR, A. W. BATES. MR. E. C. HILL has been appointed assistant manager of the Hull branch, and MR. A. J. STOCKER assistant manager of the London sales section.
MR. J. WATSON (Aberthaw and Bristol Channel Cement Co., Ltd.) and MR. J. I. PLENTY (Hoover. Ltd.) have been elected chairman and vice-chairman respectively, of the South Wales Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association. MR. E. W. ROBERTS (David Jones and Co., Ltd.) has been re-elected chairman of the Merseyside and North Wales Division. MR. L. J. HOPKINS (Rea, Ltd.), vice-chairman, and MR. T. WILLIAMS (United Molasses Co., Ltd.), treasurer, were also re-elected.

Mchsrrosti (John 'McIntosh and Son, Ltd.) is senior vice-president, and MR. D. R. PEARCE (Army and Navy Stores, Ltd.) junior vice-president. The honorary treasurer is MR. G. tVAN.COOK (Evan Cook's Depositories, Ltd.).
HAULIER'S HEAVY FINE . THE use of a vehicle for hire or reward without an appropriate licence, and the employment of a special-A licence identity certificate with intent to deceive, led to a heavy fine being imposed on a haulier at Manchester last week.
After pleading guilty, Mr. A. C. Harrison, Beechfield, Glazebrook Lane, Glazebrook, was fined £100 on the first charge and £50 on the second, plus £1_. 10s. witnesses' fees, and £15 15s. costs.
