Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Berkshire-based diesel performance specialist van Aaken has developed one of its Smart Box tuning modules for the Iveco Tector engine.

The plug-in box has been calibrated to improve economy rather than outright performance, but when tested on short drives in a very low-mileage Cargo 75E17, a marked improvement in engine response was

recorded. Measured ascents Of a nearby hill gave a time reduction from 37 to 34 seconds, together with a 5mph higher speed at the top.

Although the £400 (ex-VAT) box as tested is producing a 12% increase in torque, the mapping calibration will only be finalised at the completion of current operator trials.
