Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Factoring Services Group IFSG) has put a submission to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission calling for legislation to liberalise the supply of vehicle parts.

It claims the current situation, principally on car parts, restricts the supply of parts in a free markeL However, it will not give details for fear of reprisals from the vehicle manufacturers who, it says, use their buying power to stop suppliers selling parts to factors. The group claims that many of the parts supplied by its members are from the same suppliers as the vehicle manufacturers use and are of equal quality.

This was highlighted by a complaint to the Advertising Standard Authority over a Leyland Daf advert that claimed iLs filters go through more quality controls than any factors filters.

The basis of the complaint was that Leyland Daf buys filters from Coopers, Mann, Fram and Crossland which also supply factors.

In future the FSG says that it will consider any misleading advert as libel and take legal action.

The group has 360 members, 20% specialise in CV parts and up to do some truck parts.
