Turkey• TURKISH TRANSIT problems experienced by hauliers on their Middle East traffic, are being overcome in part by a new roIl-on/roll-off ferry service operating between Marseilles and Beirut.

The first vessel, which went into service last week, sails every 11 days with a transit time of four days and has been fully booked for the foreseeable future. It accommodates 11 trailers of 12m.

The service is to be supplemented in July by a second vessel with •a capacity for 60 12.m trailers and the service will become weekly. Both vessels will cater for driveraccompanied traffic.
