RESIDENTS at Lower Walton are threatening to seek an injunction against Warrington Council, and possibly mount a human blockade, in protest against a decision by the borough's plans committee to allow a scheme which will involve the movement of 5,000 loads of soil over a 12 months' period.
The residents say the removal of the earth from a five acre site will aggravate traffic problems in Taylor Street and Eastford Road, caused by chemical tankers serving local factories.
In an observation to the planning committee, borough surveyor J. E. Hodsworth, warned: "This operation will aggravate a traffic hazard due to the passage of heavy vehicles."
