Ageing rigid range from Volvo receives a makeover every five years ors°, though it's now desperately close to its use by' date. Latest restyle gave the exterior a revamp, though the interior's still woefully short of driver comforts. Industry observers expect FLE to be — replaced by a new Volvo family product—probably based on the Renault Midlum —by 2006, butfor now buyers are left with FLE as lightweight Volvo distribution offering.
Powered by Volvo 068 six-cylinder engine, the FLE is available at 180,220 or 250 in the 15-tonne plus distribution sector and is on offer as a 4x2,6x2 or 6x4 rigid. Cab choice is between day orsleeper. On the road the ageing design of the FLE manifests itself in mediocre handling and an underpowered engine.
