Test fees
TRANSPORT MINISTER William Rodgers is consulting interested organisations about the making of new Regulations which would increase the fee for an appointment for the two-hour driving test for heavy goods vehicles from £24 to £33.50 from 1 March 1, 1978.
Mr Rodgers explained that the fee has to recover the full cost of the test. The present fee (£24) is based on estimates of • receipts and costs made in March 1976, but since then costs have increased. The proposed fee is designed to make the system self-supporting for 1978/79.
New route
AS PART of its 1978 expansion programme, Clearway Trucking has started regular container service to North Africa and a direct import operation for specialist goods. This has already involved bringing over half a million chemical bottles from Yugoslavia for a major UK distribution.
Clearway, based at Aylesham, specialises in exhibition haulage and runs a fleet of Volvos, super cube and 12m T1R tilt trailers.

CAVE WOOD Transport, part of the Price & Pierce Transportation Division has concluded an agreement with Transports Mutte in Grenoble to operate at least a weekly groupage service between the UK and Lyon/Grenoble area of France.
Transports Mutte is also part of the Price & Pierce Transportation Division, and therefore the company has the advantage of operating a service completely under the control of one group. There will be a full interchange of equipment, and the service will be operated by both Mutte's and Cave Wood's vehicles and trailers.
