Driver: Gavin Anderson Matter: Environmental Hearing: Belfast Magistrates' Court

A COUNTY ANTRIM truck driver has been fined a total of £400 for disposing of waste tyres unlawfully. In a case brought by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Belfast Magistrates' Court was told how Gavin Anderson, 36, from Lame, was seen driving his curtain-sided lorry in June 2013. Officers noticed that he parked next to a bonfire site located in the Mount Vernon Estate, Belfast and

off-loaded a quantity of used vehicle tyres.

Following an investigation by the agency, Anderson pleaded guilty to two separate counts under the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997. He was fined £200 for each count.

Summing up

Had Anderson disposed of his used tyres lawfully, he would not have been fined £400.
