Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CUMMINS and Gardner engine options make up the power unit specification for the 400 series eight-wheeler from Seddon Atkinson. The Cummins engine is the NH-220 which gives 152kW (204bhp) at 2,100rpm and this version has been the subject of a full CM road test. The Gardner option is the 137kW (183bhp) 6LXB.

The clutch is a hydraulically operated Lipe Railway twindry-plate design 356mm (141n) in diameter which is standard equipment for both engine options. Gearboxes from David Brown are specified for the Seddon Atkinson, the standard model using the six-speed box with the eight-speed available on option. Both gearboxes are of constant-mesh design.

The Seddon Atkinson is available in both 8x4 and 8x2 configuration for tipper and haulage operation. The doubledrive bogie is a Eaton 38DS single-reduction type while the 8x2 truck uses a Seddon Atkinson 5A-13-hr drive axle with a trailing axle.

The cab is an all-steel tilt design which is also used for the Seddon Atkinson tractive units. The kerb weights vary from model to model, but as a guide the 6.17m (20ft 3in) Cummins 220 weighs 8.58 tonnes (8 tons 8cwt). Seddon Atkinson is honest with its kerb weights which include 182 litres (40gal) of fuel, water, oil, spare wheel and carrier.
