Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AVAILABLE as a haulage or a tipper chassis, the eightwheeler from MAN made its debut at Earls Court in 1974. Many of the components are common to the already well known MAN 16.232 tractive unit including the naturally aspirated 11-litre (675cuin) diesel engine which produces Its maximum power of 172kW (232bhp) at 2,300rpm.

The clutch is a single dryplate type of 420mm (16.5in) diameter. The gearbox is the same ZF AK 6-80 constantmesh type as used in the Magi rus Deutz although the MAN also uses the GV 80 splitter as standard, giving 12 forward speeds. At the rear two MAN hub-reduction axles are used.

The frame uses pressed steel channel section side-members. Both riveted and bolted constructions are used for the cross-members and gusset plates. Two wheelbase models are catalogued with the longer version intended for haulage operation at 5.825m (19ft lin). The tipper wheelbase is 5.625m (181t 5in).

The chassis/cab weight for the 30.232 MAN is given as 8.46 tonnes (8 tons 6cwt) including oil and water but excluding driver, spare wheel and tools.
