Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Goods" licence which expires at the end of February. The vehicle weighs over 30cwt unladen. Will the Transport Act have any effect on my licence ?

AFarmers operating vehicles on "Farmers

Goods" licences, i.e. taxed at the special agricultural rate of duty and used accordingly, have previously been exempt from the need to hold a carrier's licence in respect of any vehicle so registered. Under the Transport Act it will be necessary to obtain an operator's licence for these vehicles. However, the Licensing Authorities are dealing first with applications for operators' licences from existing holders of A B and C carriers' licences. When these have been dealt with, applications will' be invited from operators of "Farmers Goods" registered vehicles. Full details will be announced much nearer the time when these applications will have to be made.

The MoT has published "A Guide to Operators' Licensing" which is most helpful and mentions these points. A copy can be obtained free of charge from the MoT, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London, .SE 1.
