r1. nia's aftersales service has been beefed up with the addition of 70 obile engineers. Kevin Swallow reports.

Swedish truck manufacturer Scania is shoring up its UK aftersales service by spending Elm on training. new vehicles equipment for 70 mobile engineers. bout 25 of them will operate directly out of Sca ia's Milton Keynes site; the remaining 45 will operate out of independent dealerships an third-party service operators.

ftersales director James Armstrong ex lains that the mobile engineers programme has been developed in support of customers looking to maximise their uptime and operating efficiency.

" any operators already have their vehicles an4 trailers maintained by the Scania network, so i makes perfect sense for them to also an entrust their ancillary equipment to us," he says. "While a proportion of this work is, of course, undertaken within our own workshops, the introduction of mobile engineers adds flexibility and greater convenience to the service we provide."

Until recently Scania has concentrated on delivering aftersales service for its manufactured vehicles. But since becoming an agent for tail-lift and fridge producers it has developed a wider range of replacement components for its own parts supply chain.

The backup on offer ranges from fixed-price routine servicing to full repair and maintenance contracts. For more information go to wwvv.scania.co.uk •
