A second haulier has come forward claiming lie has been overcharged at the bunkered fuel site at Raglan Services on the busy A40 near Monmouth.

Martin Palmer, owner of Cardiff-based MJ Palmer Transport, contacted CM after seeing the story in last week's issue about alleged fuelling problems at the site.

Palmer claims ho filled up there on the 8 November on the Southbound side and, like the driver mentioned last week, says the fuel pump meter indicated that he had put in more fuel than the tank actually holds: "I know that my tank holds exactly 450 litres and yet I put 470 litres in that day."

Palmer has since contacted Keyfuels, his bunkered fuel card provider, which has gone back over the records of his vehicle's fuel purchases.

"They say that the most I have ever bought in the past is 430 litres—if one of my drivers had presented the bill I got that day I would have assumed he was on the fiddle," he adds.

When alerted to the potential problem last week Little Chef, which operates the site, lost no time in shutting down the pump for checks. It was found to be working correctly; a spokesman said a team of outside engineers was due to inspect the underground pipework as CMwent to press.

"Trading standards have inspected the site and given us the all clear. We are now awaiting the outcome of this investigation," he adds.
