Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Transport Development Group has merged another two of subsidiaries — Harris Road Services and Sutherlands — under the new trade name of Nexus.

This is the latest step in TDG's programme of grouping its subsidiaries into specialist divisions.

Nexus' main areas of operation will be chemicals and polymers, steel and food products, plus Sutherland's air cargo haulage services between customers' premises and airports in the UK and on the Continent. Nexus will run 160 vehicles out of eight sites, including headquarters at Northwich, and employ 290 people.

Nexus will be managed by the former Harris team, with David Williams still in the managing director's role, and Sandy Walker, formerly managing director of Sutherlands, will join the Nexus board.

Sutherlands general haulage interests will be merged with Inter-City Transport, another TDG company, and the Aberdeen office and workshop will

be closed with 15 redundancies. fl Nexus' first contract is with Shell Chemicals, where four high-spec tankers will be used to haul polypropylene and polyethylene granules from Shell's factory at Carrington near Manchester.
