It is not yet clear if this will include Land Rover but the talks are independent of the talks with Paccar.
Unlike the Rover Group's CV sector, Daf expects its company profitability to show further improvement this year. Daf is currently spending in excess of £22 million on improved facilities and new models.
Any further collaboration between the two companies would be likely to involve joint product arid engineering developments like Austin Rover's link with Honda.
Leyland began to use Daf engines in its Constructor series early last year, and a possible withdrawal from engine manufacture by Leyland has been on the cards for some time. Also possible is the purchase of Freight Rover by Daf, which would provide it with an entry to the light commercial market.
