Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The walkout by maintenance men at London Bus depots (GM headlines, last week) appears to be over following a vote by TGWU members to accept the company's offer on pay and conditions.

A spokesperson for London Buses says that the stoppage was breaking up even before the results of the ballot were announced, with five of the six maintenance depots working normally.

The dispute has led to severe scheduling problems for London Buses, however. The spokesperson says, "Around 700 of our 4,500 buses are unavailable because they are in need of maintenance." This compares with around 400 vehicles off the road during normal working.
