Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Brian Weatherley • ERF is stepping up its attack on the municipal, waste and utilities markets with a fourman crew-cab refuse chassis.

The right-hand-drive EU will compete head-on with the latest Dennis Elite and Mercedes-Benz Econic models which were unveiled at the IWM show (CM 18-24 June). It complements ERF's centre-steer EM range.

The 2.5m-wide EU cab has a steel and composite panel con struction. It is available on a variety of chassis with Cummins B or C-Series engines, including gas versions, and will take a range of refuse bodies including those from leading suppliers such as Norba, Jack Allen and Faun.

The EU and EM use the same chassis but the EU is aimed at conservative municipal buyers.

ERE municipal sales manager Tony Sullings says it will he "favourably priced" against the Elite—and, unlike Dennis and Mercedes, ERF will have an 8x4 chassis for operators wanting to run at maximum weights. Orders for the EU are being taken now, for October delivery. 0 Following ERF's recent purchase of the design rights and tooling for the centre-steer Britannia MkII cab from Jack Allen, Sullings reports growing interest in its EM chassis, which has the radical low cab.

After building eight prototype demonstrators it has received an order for five EM chassis, and trials are going on with other operators. Sullings predicts EM's biggest market will be with private contractors. • Model: Four-man (diiver and three crew) crew-cab refuse chassis.

• Cab:Steel/composite panel construction, 2.5m wide.

• Engine options: Cummins B and C-Series with power outputs from 2311-3011p.Cas versions are rated at at 198hp (B-Scies) and 2SOtip {Clerks),

• Chassis valiants:1d. 6x2., 6o4 and Bid. 'Avalable as mid-lift pusher, second-steer or teat steer.
