Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Truck drivers who carry dangerous goods are being offered courses geared to the new legal requirements introduced on 1 July.

TDT Group — which has centres in Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent — runs courses which lead to a City and Guilds examination. Success results in the award of a five-year DOT certificate.

At first the certificates are compulsory for tanker drivers and explosives carriers, but by the end of 1994 all drivers carrying dangerous goods will be required to have taken the exam.

Police help

Mi Middlesex traffic police are organising a series of free workshops for commercial drivers on understanding the law.

The first workshop will be held on 2 September at Hampton Traffic Garage. It will cover how to keep tachograph records, the law in drivers' hours and includes questions and answers.

The workshops will be held on the first Wednesday of each month. Places are limited to 20 a session.
