• National Bus Company subsidiary West Yorkshire Road Car looks likely to be sold in two parts in a deal authorised this week by transport minister David Mitchell.

The company's operations, involving 400 buses, minibuses and coaches, and 1,500 staff, will be acquired by a specially formed company West Yorkshire Road Car Investments. This company's shareholders are expected to include West Yorkshire's senior managers, Alan Stephenson, managing director of privatised East Yorkshire Motor Services and a property company called Parkdale Holdings.
