THE TRANSPORT Bill is a serious threat to the future of Britain's bus manufacturers, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said last week.
It said the uncertainty surrounding the Bill and "Other recent damaging Government policies" had already cut bus and coach sales in Britain by 40 per cent over the past four years.
Its complete demise would cut £250m from the nation's balance of trade, and the present industry's concentration on commercial networks would reduce the nation's bus fleet by a quarter..
