Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mr. R. P. Cherry, of Beverley, was granted a new express service licence to take workers to the Hawker Siddeley factory at Brough, by the Yorkshire Traffic Commisioners at Bridlington last week. The application was objected to by East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd.

The service is from Beverley to the aircraft factory at Brough with picking-up points in Beverley. Cottingharn, Anlaby and Svvanland. The licence is for one vehicle but provision for another if needed was included. Only employees of Hawker Siddeley Aviation Ltd. will be carried and the aircraft company was prepared to pay 50 per cent of its employees' fares.

East Yorkshire based its objection by claiming it was able to meet the workers' needs by means of existing stage carriage services. The personnel officer for Hawker Siddeley. who appeared in support of the application, stated his company would not be prepared to subsidize a stage carriage service.
