Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I was very interested in the article ICM September 21) "Speak as you find'' — in .fact it made my heart glad to discover that there are many employers who take into consideration driver reaction when they purchase foreign vehicles.

But it makes you wonder which factor actually topped the bill. "Shortage of drivers"? I doubt it: more like better mileage returns, plus the simple fact that getting hold of British heavies is harder than getting hold of a £9 note.

So. fellow drivers, it wasn't for you that your guy'nor bought you that new OAF. But let's face it, isn't it nice to be told it was you he was thinking of.

And when we get down to the nitty-gritty, who wouldn't rather punch up the road in a Scania than do a 300-mile round trip in a six-year-old Scammell. and wind up with a feeling that your right foot has been amptk tated, that your head aches like an overloaded axle, and your ears feel like they've been filled with sandbags? And, of course, what about your kidneys, back, etc, etc?

A last thought for the guy'nors who still like those old British heavies — "rep's advertising. All the best drivers are with the firms who bought foreign A. R. GODFREY, Class 1 hgv licence, East Dulwich.
