• A £7.1m. bid by Charrington Gardner and Locket for Dundee Perth and London Securities is likely to succeed. DPL, part of the Slater Walker Group, has 250 vehicles and 300,000 sq ft of warehousing. COL has a fleet of over 1000 vehicles.

The directors of DPL who have themselves been actively engaged seeking acquisitions in road haulage during the past two years are to recommend the terms of the take-over to the shareholders. When the newsbroke on the Stock Exchange on Monday DPL's share price rose by seven pence to 102p, its highest this year.
