R.I.J. Agnew, a managing director of Amey Roadstone Corporation Ltd has been appointed deputy chairman of the company. Brigadier J. Constant, the group chief engineer has been appointed an executive director. Mr Agnew, who Mr R. Agnew was born in Western Australia in 1934. joined the parent company, The Gold Fields Group. as a management trainee in 1957. He became joint managing director of Amey Roadstone in December 1972. Prior to his appointment with Amey Roadstone. Brigadier Constant had been an independent consultant in environmental, transportation and engineering matters.
Ron Burgin, general manager of Sheffield United Tours, has been additionally appointed operations manager (South), of the North Eastern area of National Travel. He will be assisted by R. Rodgers, currently traffic manager of SUT and T.E. Crewe, assistant traffic manager of SUT.
Ian Deshayes-McCourt has been appointed operations manager (North) of the same area.
He was previously coaching manager for the Joint Northern and United coaching unit at Newcastle. He will be assisted by R. Trelogan.
Other appointments include E. Lowe, previously express service superintendent with Yorkshire Traction, who becomes planning superintendent at the area headquarters at Liversedge. P. Elliott has been appointed sales officer and R. Taft becomes assistant to the general manager of Hebble Motor Services Ltd. T. Martin, chief engineer of SUT, also becomes responsible for the Hebble fleet. Colin Clubb, 41. at present chief engineer Southdown. has been appointed general manager of Yorkshire Traction in Barnsley. Brian Robinson, who joined ICS two years ago, has been appointed marketing manager of ICS Trailer Ltd.
John Clarke has been appointed to the new position of traffic manager of the Alder Valley Company. John Parker has been appointed area manager. Southern Area and Christopher Lewis area manager, Northern Area of the company. These two areas correspond with the territories of the former Aldershot and District and Thames Valley Companies. Charles Tebay, assistant secretary in the passenger transport, industry and investment sections of the Department of the Environment, has moved to Housing and Construction. His successor is M. W. Jackson, also an assistant secretary.
Frank Whalley has been appointed group publicity manager, Seddon-Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. He has been working in a similar capacity for Atkinson for some time, and took up his wider responsibilities on October 1.
Dirk van Tol (361 has been appointed sales manager of DAF Trucks (GB1 Ltd. Mr van Tol was initially attached to the UK company from the parent company in Holland, acting as marketing consultant with special responsibility for investigating the UK market.
Bob Hughes has been appointed marketing director of Edbro Ltd. Mr Hughes joins Edbro from the Eaton Corporation in Zurich where he has been marketing director of the European materials handling group since 1969.
Bill Sunderland has become chief executive of the Vehicle Builders and Repairers' Association. Gordon Mellor becomes secretary and Robert Hadfield succeeds him as editor of the Association's journal Body. Mr Sunderland joined the VBRA in 1958 as general secretary.
