• An application for rates increases from Tayforth Ltd to the Prices Commission is one of 12 listed this week as "lapsed or withdrawn". Mr R. M. Love, the company secretary, was unable to say whether the application had been withdrawn or lapsed and a spokesman for the National Freight Corporation said: "We are unable to make any comment".

The application had been made for an increase of 9.7 per cent in the general haulage rate, 4.46 per cent in the contract hire rate and 3.36 per cent for short term warehousing.

The Prices Commission has allowed an increase of 3.52 per cent to the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Company on replacement tyres, tubes and remoulds because of increased costs of natural rubber and labour.
