Belgian Scania • Scania Belgium has opened a dealership in Antwerp's port district with facilities for heavy vehicle repair, tachograph calibration and parts. The company is also building a central warehouse and distribution centre in Opglabbeek, Belgium to supply parts to most of western Europe.
Rod remit • Heron Distribution started a multi-user contract this week with copper rod manufacturer Rodeo. Ten 38-tonne tractors and 22 trailers will move copper rod consignments on reels from Rodco's Skelmersdale factory to mainland UK destinations.
Sporty clothes A contract to deliver sportswear to Spain has been won by Transport Development Group subsidiary Williams Distribution. Williams will deliver the freight to the Vigo base of Umbro International's Spanish distributor.
Marque swap • A former AWD dealer and Bedford representative has become the latest recruit to the MAN/VW network. Tottenham-based Arcade Truck and Van Centre will cover the same area as former Welham Green, Hatfield-based MAN dealer S&B Commercials.
Polish express • Scansped UK has launched an express trailer service to and from Poland in anticipation of expanding its operations throughout the whole of Eastern Europe. The new service to Poznan uses Scansped's Polish sister company Transmeble International.
