LILURES in MoT examinans due to brake failure are ely to increase drastically, cording to the results of ;ts by Girling.
The tests involved 50,000 hides over a 10-year period, lminating in the examinain of 498 vehicles at Wem*/ last month.
Forty-two per cent required imediate brake attention. iile five per cent of those iich passed needed further brake attention at the next service.
This compares with a 20.7 per cent Department of Transport statistical failure rate undertaken with identical equipment.
This includes cars less than three years old, but if they are excluded, the Girling results rise to produce a 52 per cent failure rate which is more than double the DTp figure.
