Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Robomatic, an engine control unit introduced by Stewart Automotive Equipment will, it is claimed, protect any petrol or diesel engine against seizure.

The unit monitors water temperature and oil pressure. If either approaches a dangerous level the driver or operator is given a combined audible and visual warning 25 seconds in advance of the engine being cut out.

A lack of water, broken fan belts and blocked or damaged radiators will activate the Robornatic. It will also operate because of insufficient lubricating oil, broken oil pipes, fractured sumps, blocked filters or faulty oil pumps. Once stopped, an engine can be restarted only for periods of up to 25sec until the fault in the oil or water system has been attended to when the engine can be started immediately.

As the Robomatic has been designed to operate wholly automatically, no adjustments are needed and no maintenance is required after fitting.

The unit's control box incorporates large warning lights indicating whether it is the oil or water system at fault, and a buzzer warns in conjunction with the lights; the unit has a precision-made temperature switch and a solenoid valve fitted into the injection pump, this being responsible for bringing the engine to a halt in the event of impending seizure.

The reliability of the valve has been proved over the past nine years in its capacity as a. diesel security device. Twelve or 24V units for positive, negative or insulated return systems are available.

Although designed primarily for diesel-powered trucks, the Robomatic can be fitted to petrol-ergined vehicles.

A sales and fitting distributor network is being established throughout Britain.
